Margot Schulman

Margot Schulman became a part of the Dutchess Outreach family on February 2, 2015 as the Lunch Box Manager. Being a part of the organization for just about six weeks, she has already made substantial strides in bringing nutritional value and fresh produce to the Lunch Box. Her main focus is “utilizing the bounty of the Hudson Valley”, specifically the wild game and fresh fruits and vegetables that are regularly brought in. Additionally she has created new partnerships with Hudson Valley Fresh for milk and Wild Hive for grain and continues to grow and maintain these relationships. Margot has a particular interest in providing the children from the after-school programs with nutritional meals. She strives to give them fresh fruit with each meal as well as provide them with the Hudson Valley Fresh milk.

Co-founder of Fareground Community Café, Margot's lifelong interests in self-sustainability, nutrition, delicious food and political activism all come together in this community project. Margot began her nutrition and culinary education at The Natural Gourmet Culinary Institute's Chef Training Program. She established a complete foundation for whole foods cooking and cooking for health. Her quest for knowledge continued since then and led her to Columbia University for her Bachelor's of Science in Biology and to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition for a certification as a Holistic Health Counselor. She has been self-employed for the previous 13 years as a private chef, holistic health counselor, caterer and cooking instructor.
